Toyota Pre-Collision System Guide

Toyota Safety Sense Banner

One of the many reasons to get a new Toyota vehicle is the Toyota Safety Sense™ suite of features. This continually-updated package features some of the best driving assistance tech on the market at affordable rates, giving Freehold access to innovations they haven’t even heard of! One of these is the Pre-Collision System. So, how does the Toyota Pre-Collision System work? Galaxy Toyota covers details about the Toyota Pre-Collision system and Toyota Safety Sense™ below!

How Does the Toyota Pre-Collision System Work?

The Toyota Pre-Collision system is designed to help Toms River drivers avoid accidents on the road. It uses a combo of cameras and radars to sense when there might be an accident incoming. Here are details answering the question, “How does the Toyota Pre-Collision system work?”:

  • The Toyota Pre-Collision System works with a Front-Facing Camera and a Radar System.
  • These are programmed to measure distance between your car and any objects in your path, including walls, trash, and other cars.
  • The computer also traces your speed, and it’s able to predict the likelihood of a collision. It’s kind of like that math problem everyone had to solve in middle school, but it’s being solved many many times every minute.
  • The system alerts you with an audiovisual cue you’ll notice right away.
  • If you don’t respond, the Toyota Pre-Collision System can even deploy full-force brakes to stop the collision!

Toyota Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

Long Branch drivers can upgrade their Toyota Safety Sense™ package on new vehicles. For example, the Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 (TSS 2.0) suite includes Pedestrian Detection. Even more recent versions like TSS 2.5 and TSS 2.5+ include intersection support and emergency steering functionality.  Pedestrian Detection is specifically designed to help you when you’re turning. Whether you’re making left or right-hand turns, the system uses a millimeter wave scanner to alert you if there are cars or pedestrians in your path!

More Toyota Safety Sense™ Features

The Pre-Collision System is far from the only feature that’s part of Toyota’s safety suite. For example, Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5 and Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ include the following features:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS)
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)
  • Automatic High Beams (AHB)
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA)

And the safety features are just one aspect of Toyota ownership that puts Long Branch Toyota drivers at ease. Things like the Roadside Assistance program and ToyotaCare Plus coverage assure drivers that, if something happens, the company has their back!
